The 2,500 euro category is the purest delicatessen. If you are looking for your new racing bike here, you will find models right on the edge of the UCI limit of 6.8 kilos, with super-light frames and flawless high-end equipment. Those who like it more exclusive and don't care so much about weight will also find what they are looking for: A solid, excellently finished titanium frame with good equipment provides selling points beyond the technically measurable. And if your current racer is too hard, the test will show you alternatives that combine good comfort with high riding stability.
SHORT AND SHORT
Real dream bikes are available for 2,500 euros. If you are mainly looking for equipment, the direct distributors Canyon, FAT, Poison, Radon and Red Bull are the best choice. Great, light and stiff frames are available from Scott and Red Bull. Van Nicholas' titanium racers are also not to be sneezed at, although the emphasis here is more on a classy finish than on low weight. Of the classic brands, Cube impresses with a great overall package and Müsing with top equipment.
