With the rigid, black anodised aluminium frame, Quantec distributor CCM offers a robust, inexpensive basis for a crosser. Built from a modular programme, the bike with the best equipment wins the test. Shimano's new Ultegra groupset is complemented by Syntace components and stable but rather heavy wheels from Fulcrum. Schwalbe's new "Rocket-Ron" tyres roll smoothly and offer plenty of grip on soft ground. Quantec is the only supplier in the test to fit short V-brakes.
Advantages: brute braking power and problem-free installation; more serious
Disadvantage: They are difficult to dose.
Because the braking force increases progressively towards the end of the braking distance, the front wheel can easily lock up in wet conditions and on loose surfaces. Apart from that, the manoeuvrable and agile bike is impressive on the road.
