A narrow but well-deserved test victory for Quantec: The "CC Racing" is a convincing, unpretentious workhorse for rough terrain. The basis is a neatly finished, anodised aluminium frame with good stiffness values. For the equipment, Quantec creator Uli Hergesell-Bulian chose the new "Centaur" groupset from Campagnolo. Its shift brake levers are easy to hold, even off-road, and the beautifully crafted crankset offers a chainring combination suitable for off-road riding.
We were impressed by the Tektro mini V-brakes tuned with pads from Swissstop ("Darkgreen" compound). As always with this type of brake, the modulation is a little tricky, but the braking distances are significantly shorter than with cantilever brakes. Replacing the pads was also worthwhile. The soft rubbers are less hard on the rims, especially in the wet, and wear out more slowly than the standard pads.
