The new Specialissima is supposed to be a bike for all occasions. While the pros of the World Tour team Jumbo Visma could or had to choose between the aero model Bianchi Oltre XR 4 and the lightweight Specialissima this season, the new Specialissima is designed to combine aerodynamics and lightweight construction. In 2021, the bike will be the official racing machine of Mitchelton, which is switching from Scott to the Italians as an outfitter.
The new Specialissima is based on tube shapes inspired by the Oltre aero model. For the frame construction, the Italians utilise their Countervail technology developed for the predecessor model, with the help of which the carbon layers are joined together in such a way that the frame should ensure better damping.
The geometry has also been significantly revised: In any case, the stack-to-reach values (1.33 in the smallest frame height 47 and 1.49 in the largest frame height 61; seven sizes in total) stand for a sporty riding position. Visually striking: The steeply sloping top tube requires a comparatively long seat post extension. According to Bianchi, the Specialissima 2021 remains a lightweight despite the disc brakes: With a frame weight of 750 grams and a 370-gram fork, the set weighs 1.12 kilograms. Exciting for use on gravel roads: The tyre clearance increases to 28 millimetres.
