Lightweight carbon frame; solid but heavy equipment. Heavy wheels drag the result down a little.

The Strada 3500 has the lightest frameset in the test. 1,601 grams, standardised to size 57, is a good value, especially as the stiffness and comfort values are at a solid level. Some savings were made on the componentry, although KTM only uses tried and tested branded products. The 105 groupset, here as a triple version, works no worse than the Ultegra, but is somewhat heavier and less elaborately finished. The cost-saving measures are particularly noticeable in the wheels and tyres. Better tyres would be our first tuning tip. Overall, the bike impresses with problem-free riding characteristics, pleasant comfort and a comfortable, moderately sporty riding position.
