Votec, the subsidiary brand of Internetstores AG, which operates via Brügelmann, fahrrad.de and bikester.com The company that sells bikes and accessories, presents the new VRC. Contrary to what one might expect with the current boom in gravel bikes, this is not a gravel bike, but a modern, versatile marathon racing bike. In other words, a bike that is primarily intended for use on the road.
However, the makers of the bike do not want to specify what exactly is meant by a road. Thanks to the generous tyre clearance, which allows tyres up to a maximum width of 35 millimetres, forest roads and not too rough dirt tracks are also within the VRC's range. This makes the bike reminiscent of similarly designed border crossers between tarmac and off-road, such as the Focus Paralane or the latest generation of the Trek Domane.
The carbon frame of the VRC is definitely worth seeing. It bears the signature of Heidelberg designer Rafael Hoffleit, who has already attracted attention with several spectacular designs. The minimalist lettering and clear colours accentuate the unique shape of the frame. An eye-catching feature of the VRC is the innovative connection of the Seat post. When the bolts are open, the clamp remains on the post. Votec promises two advantages. Firstly, the seat post does not have to be readjusted if it has been removed for transport. In addition, the lowered clamp extends the effective extension length of the post and thus increases the rear suspension travel.
For a quick wheel change, the fork and frame are designed for the Mavic speed-release thru-axle system, in which the thru-axles remain in the hubs when the wheel is removed. Discreetly concealed threads allow the VRC to be fitted with mudguards from the Belgian manufacturer Curana if required. The mudguards are included in the scope of delivery. The VRC is Five sizes from S to XXL and in the four colours "Matt Black", "Spanish Copper", Norwegian Blue" and "Piano Black". Four equipment variants are available between 2,499 and 3,999 euros.
