Comfortable and aerodynamically top - that is Bianchi's claim for the new Oltre XR3 Disc, with which the Italians are heralding the start of the 2019 product year. Like the top-of-the-range Oltre XR4 model, the geometry of the aero frame is manufactured using the patented Countervail technology, in which elastic material in the carbon fibre is intended to ensure better comfort, especially on rough surfaces. According to the manufacturer, the frameset should also offer the same aerodynamic performance as the professional racer.
The Oltre XR3 Disc is equipped with Shimano R8000 Ultegra, Fulcrum Racing 418 wheels and 28 millimetre wide Vittoria Rubino Pro tyres as standard. The disc racer will be available in frame sizes 47 to 61. According to the manufacturer, the frame weighs 1.15 kilograms in frame size 55 and the fork weighs 450 grams. Bianchi did not provide any information on the price. The current rim brake model with Ultegra equipment costs 3,799 euros.
Bianchi left open whether the professionals from Team Lotto-NL Jumbo, who ride the Oltre XR4, will also ride disc racers in the future. So far, Bianchi's flagship is not available as a disc version - in contrast to the top models of many competitors.
