With the first generation of the TCR series, the Taiwanese manufacturer invented the sloping frame with a sloping top tube at the end of the 1990s. Many evolutionary stages later, the current model looks very mature, which is reflected in the good rating for the frameset. A small surprise, especially in view of the square, wide down tube, is the relatively good aerodynamics. Nevertheless, the bike lacks a few arguments in favour of the great Propel. It is neither significantly lighter than its aero counterpart, nor does it have any advantages in terms of suspension comfort. On the contrary: the integrated seatpost even offers slightly less suspension than the Propel. On our simulated 100-kilometre test route, the bike lost 47 seconds compared to the Propel.
