Storck Bicycle presented "the fastest racing bike in the world" at the Eurobike trade fair in Friedrichshafen. "Thanks to the fundamental redevelopment of the cockpit and the fork, the racer achieves a sensational 199 watts, making it the first manufacturer in the world to break the magic sound barrier of 200 watts according to TOUR standard test procedures in the wind tunnel," reads the press release.
As TOUR editors, we are delighted when TOUR test procedures are seen as a benchmark by the bicycle industry. However, the statement in the press release is misleading. Under no circumstances did TOUR carry out the test in the wind tunnel and the actual procedure differs from the TOUR test. In consultation with TOUR, Storck subsequently changed the statement on Facebook to "Measurements based on the TOUR wind tunnel test". The figures from TOUR must therefore first be determined.
The anticipation for our next wind tunnel test is particularly high because other candidates are also claiming the aerodynamic crown. Just a few days ago, Simplon claimed to have built the fastest road bike in the world with the Pride II. TOUR readers will find out who really has the edge in the wind tunnel.
