The mechanical CX-77 disc brakes from Shimano, well-sealed XT mountain bike hubs and attachments from Syntace deserve special mention. The good impression is somewhat spoilt by the weight of 10.1 kilograms. The fork (with steel steerer tube) and the brutally stiff frame are heavier than necessary. The judgement on the additional brake levers on the upper handlebars is ambivalent: For cross beginners, they offer a safety plus; because the outer cable has to be interrupted for installation, the brakes don't feel as crisp as those on the other bikes. Schwalbe's Rocket-Ron tyres are a convincing all-rounder on any surface.
