The American Ken Bloomer, who lives in the Allgäu, has specialised in custom-made products with his company Crema Cycles. Bloomer measures and advises. Canadian welding legend Mike Truelove, who once made the welding needles glow at the cult company Brodie, takes care of the craftsmanship.
The tested bike is designed as a pure racing machine. Steep angles, short wheelbase. The classic top handlebar grip is not provided. If you grip like this, you sit upright like on a Dutch bike. In the lower handlebar position, on the other hand, it is pleasantly sporty without the back extensors cramping. The SRAM Force shifting system sorts the gears with confidence, while the rider feels every bump in the road twitch through their body. The massive carbon fork transmits the shocks to the rider unfiltered via the typical mountain bike mega head tube. As stubborn and pure as this may feel in rough passages: Hardened cross-country purists will not be bothered by this, as the fork and head tube offer impressive stiffness and steering precision. The mechanical but powerful disc brakes are indispensable with so much temperament. The bike inspires. Unfortunately, your tongue sticks to the roof of your mouth on longer rides. The Crema only offers one bottle cage position. Typical for racing.

* The frame set accounts for 40 per cent of the overall score and the equipment for 60 per cent. Individual grades are included in these two assessments, only some of which are printed for reasons of space. The grades are calculated up to the final grade with all decimal places; however, for the sake of clarity, all grades are given with rounded decimal places.
*** Stack/reach: projected vertical/horizontal measurement from the centre of the bottom bracket to the top of the headset; STR (stack to reach): Values between 1.45 and 1 .55 indicate a sporty riding position, values below are race-like, above are comfortable.
