Pioneer of the comfort wave: Specialised Roubaix
With the Roubaix series, Specialized has been instrumental in initiating the trend towards marathon racing bikes. The relatively heavy, stable frame allows a relaxed riding position.

If that's not enough, you can raise the handlebars even further using the angle-adjustable stem. The unconventional CG-R carbon seatpost has a noticeable bounce, while the kink in the seat stays makes the rear suspension visibly springy. The effect is enhanced by the smooth rolling 25 millimetre tyres. The bike is well damped, even if the elastomers in the fork and rear triangle, which are supposed to dampen vibrations, have no discernible effect during the ride. Purists might be bothered by the fact that the Ultegra groupset is supplemented with simpler 105 brakes from Shimano. With the 32 sprocket, there is almost a 1:1 gear ratio available for steep ramps.

CONCLUSION Extremely stable, well-damped trendsetter with a relaxed riding position. Very good handlebars and saddle
