The V1-R is aimed at customers who expect competitive technical values from a premium manufacturer - the C60, with its very unique concept, is above all too heavy in international comparison.
For the V1-R, the Italians were able to draw on the expertise of Ferrari when selecting and procuring materials - Colnago has been cooperating with the sports car manufacturer on various projects since the 1980s. The Ferrari logo on the top tube adorns every V1-R, but the frame is manufactured in Taiwan. The frame shape looks technically modern, the aerodynamically influenced tube cross-sections are reminiscent of models such as the Cervélo R5 or Scott Foil. The rear dropouts are made of carbon for the first time at Colnago.
The manufacturer advertises 835 grams for a size 54 frame, our test specimen, one size larger and including bearing shells and seat clamp, weighs 961 grams - a respectable value. The stiffness values are also at a top level, making it a state-of-the-art frame overall. With an STR of 1.47, the V1-R also has a somewhat sportier riding position and is available in eight sizes. The price has not yet been finalised, but is expected to be significantly lower than that of the Italian-built C60.
