The recall was triggered by a number of cases in which the rims of the wheels had been severely damaged by potholes, which had also resulted in injury to the rider. Hunt has therefore decided to recall the wheelset. According to the manufacturer, the "48-Limiteless" wheelset is characterised by its low weight and aero-optimised design. The weight of 1,582 grams is primarily achieved by reducing the density of the carbon rim.
The UK company further explained: "Although the wheels passed the industry standard tests for stationary impact and rolling on cobbles, as a precautionary measure we have decided to recall the wheels and replace the rims with a new, updated and reinforced rim design."
The new rims should be available in the course of December or January, according to Hunt. Those who don't want to wait that long can get a refund or another set of wheels from the company.
