TOUR invited you to take part and you voted for the road bike of 2022 in three categories as part of the large TOUR reader survey (a total of 1,547 participants). There were five models to choose from, each of which impressed the TOUR Test & Technik editorial team in terms of technology, innovation or function.
The voting was clearest in the area of Gravel in the category Competition racing bikes was a little tighter, with the closest race in the Marathon road bikes to.
With this bike, the Americans made a groundbreaking decision: The aerodynamically optimised and lightweight racing bike was to become Specialized's sole competition model in racing. The balancing act was a success: the currently most successful road bike in professional cycling combines excellent aero performance with convincing lightweight construction. In the competition category, no other road bike in the 2022 TOUR survey can hold a candle to the Specialized S-Works Tarmac.
Light, lighter, Aethos: the S-Works version sets new standards in lightweight construction. The bike weighs just 6.1 kilos, the frame set of the Specialized Aethos less than 1000 grams. This makes the lightest production road bike perfect for demanding climbs. Among marathon road bikes, it came out just ahead in the TOUR survey. It was the most popular road bike in this category in 2022.
The second gravel bike from the Koblenz-based manufacturer is a pragmatic and user-friendly bike with a simple design, plenty of luggage eyelets and space for very wide tyres. The Canyon Grizl gravel bike is just as suitable for long bike tours as it is for a quick after-work ride on difficult terrain.
The Canyon Grizl enjoys great popularity among TOUR readers and wins the Gravel category by a large margin.
