What the three Radon Regard models have in common is the aluminium frame with carbon fork, 40 mm wide tyres and Shimano component groups from various GRX series.
The stack/reach ratio promises a sporty riding position. The long wheelbase results in a very smooth ride, which is a particular advantage off-road. On tarmac, this can lead to somewhat sluggish steering behaviour.
Both the Radon Regard 8.0 FE and the Regard 9.0 FE are fully equipped with hub dynamo, mudguards, pannier rack and much more, as indicated by the FE in the name of the bikes. Both bikes roll well on Continental Terra Trail tyres on unpaved paths and offer sufficient traction there.
Whether commuting, travelling by bike or bikepacking adventures, the bike can be used in a variety of ways thanks to its equipment and the mounting options on the frame.
Radon states that the bikes will be available from July 2022.
Radon presents the Regard 8.0 FE as an entry-level bike. The bike is equipped with a 2x10-speed Shimano GRX 400 groupset equipped. The combination of chainrings with 46 and 30 teeth with an 11-36 cassette (Shimano Deore) offers a gear range to always find a suitable sprocket-chainring combination on different surfaces, on inclines and with luggage.
The Shutter Precision PL 7 hub dynamo ensures that the Büchel Shiny 50 front headlight and the Büchel Nano rear light never run out of power. Pannier rack, mudguards, kickstand and the Knog Oi bell, which are fitted as standard, also make the bike attractive for the daily commute to work or as a touring bike with classic panniers.
The all-round carefree entry-level package is available for 1399 euros.
The Regard 9.0 FE is also fully equipped, but with modern 2x11-speed Shimano GRX 600 groupset equipped. The gear ratio of 46/30 and an 11-36 cassette (Shimano 105) offers a finer gradation between the individual gears.
This equipment variant also includes a Shutter Precision PL-7 Hub dynamo installed. However, the front light comes from Busch & Müller: Lumotec MYC T Senso Plus. The bell, pannier rack, mudguards and kickstand are the same. The Regard 9.0 FE is therefore also very suitable for commuting and riding on wet roads and paths.
This higher-quality equipment variant of Radon's Regard costs 1599 euros.
As the name suggests, the Regard 10.0 is simpler but at the same time equipped to a higher standard. Without pannier rack, mudguards and lighting system, the bike is fully designed for gravel use. The attachment points for these are still available, as are attachment points on the top tube for tools or a top tube bag, on the down tube and bottle cage in the frame triangle.
Whereas the two previously presented variants roll on Alexrims and VP Modus rear hubs with Continental Terra Trail tyres, the Regard 10.0 is fitted with Mavic wheels. The Continental Terra Speed Protection tyres, also 40mm, roll fast and offer grip on gravel paths, while weighing slightly less.
This wheel has a 1x11 Shimano GRX 810 groupset installed. A 40-tooth chainring is combined with an 11-42 SLX cassette. With this wide gear range, a suitable gear is available both on fast tarmac sections and on a gravel climb.
The bike will be available for 1799 euros.
