With the Radon Regard 10.0, the Bonn-based mail order company presents its first "Gravel racer". The first instalment was sold out within a few weeks. Our test shows why.

Despite the gravel boom in recent years, this popular type of bike has led a shadowy existence at Radon. However, this changed in the spring of this year. They presented the Radon Regard 10.0 aluminium gravel bike.

Radon Regard 10.0: This is the price

For once, we're rolling up the field from the back and first looking at the price of the new development. For 1799 euros, Radon is launching an aluminium gravel bike on the market that doesn't have to hide from the big competition in the affordable segment around 2000 euros.

The manufacturer positions its top model as a classic all-rounder that can be converted into a bikepacking bike or randonneur thanks to mounting points for bags, mudguards and pannier rack. Two cheaper models are already fully equipped ex works, but are fitted with cheaper components.

The Radon Regard 10.0 shifts with Shimano's GRX 810 and a chainring. This limits the range of gears, but a double crankset and front derailleur can be easily retrofitted. There is also tuning potential in the wheelset, which at more than four kilograms is - as with other bikes in this price range - heavy as lead. The frameset weighs in at around 2300 grams, making it one of the lightest on the market.

Excellent directional stability

With a total weight of just under ten kilograms, the Regard needs to be set in motion and even short ramps are a real challenge. On the other hand, the bike scores points on gravel and forest paths with excellent directional stability.

How do you like this article?

The emphatically upright riding position and the wide handlebars make the Radon a comfortable companion. The frame's damping is a little too low for rough terrain, but this is compensated for by the high-quality tyres.

Overall, the Radon Regard 10.0 offers a lot of performance for little money. The maintenance-friendly cable routing and seatpost clamp round off the harmonious overall picture. That's all the bike you need to enter the world of gravel.
