The Swiss bike manufacturer BMC is recalling several models of its Kaius gravel bike series. The reason for this is safety concerns due to damage to the steerer tube.

According to a statement from BMC, "in some cases" damage has occurred to the fork stems of certain Kaius models under extreme load conditions. Although the affected products fulfil the requirements of industry tests, BMC has decided to issue a voluntary recall because the problems encountered do not meet the company's high quality standards. In its announcement, BMC emphasises that its aim is to deliver products that meet the highest expectations.

BMC asks all owners of these models to stop using their bikes immediately and to contact their BMC dealer. They will check whether the fork needs to be replaced. Affected models should receive a more robust fork.

The recall affects a total of nine models in the Kaius 01 series from model years 2023, 2024 and 2025, specifically the following models:

  • 2023: Kaius 01 ONE, TWO and THREE
  • 2024: Kaius 01 LTD, ONE, TWO and THREE and
  • 2025: Kaius 01 THREE and FRS.

The company endeavours to process the cases as quickly as possible.
