To mark its 15th anniversary, Bike Ahead Composites is launching an exceptional special edition model. The Superfast Edition 15 gravel bike is being released in a strictly limited edition of just 15 units and combines lightweight construction, customisation and ‘Made in Germany’ manufacturing with numerous nods to the company’s history. The Superfast Edition 15 is designed to take the company’s philosophy to the extreme. The overall package is equally exclusive: the price is 15,000 euros. The total value of the individual components was even rounded down to achieve a figure fitting for the anniversary.
The special edition Bike Ahead The Superfast Edition 15 was personally designed by the company’s founder, Christian Gemperlein. The design draws on numerous milestones in the company’s history. For instance, the visible 3K carbon structure is reminiscent of the first Bike Ahead Biturbo wheels from 2011, whilst the eye-catching black and acid green paint finish references the 6.8-kilogramme concept bike with which Bike Ahead attracted attention at Eurobike in 2014. The anniversary edition of the Biturbo Gravel Aero wheels also features a matching special paint finish, as well as a top layer of 3K fabric instead of the UD carbon normally used. The overall look is complemented by a specially designed Bike Ahead The Hypersaddle and a cockpit featuring Acid Green lettering.
This special edition is based on the well-known Bike Ahead The Superfast gravel bike, which won the Eurobike Award in 2025 and the Cycling World Award for best gravel bike in 2026. The carbon frame is constructed using a one-piece monocoque design, which, according to the manufacturer, is intended to ensure a particularly direct power transfer. With a total weight of 7.2 kilos in size M, the anniversary edition ranks among the lightest near-production gravel bikes on the market. According to Bike Ahead, the lightest specification of the model even falls below the seven-kilogram mark.
Buyers also benefit from an unusually high degree of customisation. A modular system allows riders to freely combine, amongst other things, cockpit geometry, handlebar width, stem length and drop. The bike is available with either a PressFit or T47 bottom bracket. A removable, sealed storage compartment in the down tube is also among the options. The spec also includes fully integrated cable routing and a UDH derailleur hanger. Even the smallest details are designed with lightweight construction in mind: for example, Bike Ahead uses hollow-drilled titanium bolts for the bottle cages, each weighing just 1.06 grams.
The Bike Ahead The Superfast Edition 15 will be produced in a limited run of just 15 units and is available exclusively as a complete bike fitted with Bike Ahead components. The gravel bike is also equipped with a Sram Red EXPLR wireless groupset featuring a power metre. The special paint finish is applied by a specialist who, according to Bike Ahead, is one of the best in the business. This exclusive gravel bike can now be ordered from the Würzburg-based company’s online shop. In addition to a factory tour in Veitshöchheim and a personal handover by the boss, customers will receive an 80-page book detailing the story behind the bike’s creation. Furthermore, the purchase price of 15,000 euros includes a bespoke bike fitting and personalised advice on cockpit geometry and crank length.
Wow! With this much extravagance, even a die-hard tech editor is left speechless. The Bike Ahead The Superfast Edition 15 is a unique tribute to the work of the carbon pioneers in Germany. Collectors with deep pockets can secure a very special piece of the company’s history. For everyone else, all that’s left is to dream. - Jan Timmermann, BIKE editor
