The Ridley Kanzo Adventure is one of three Gravel bike models of the Belgian manufacturer and has been fundamentally revised for 2022. Ridley has opted for a flat steering angle, long wheelbase and lowered bottom bracket to ensure that the new model stays on track even on rough terrain. The Kanzo Adventure should therefore be more stable to ride than its predecessor, which has been part of Ridley's gravel bike family since 2019, and with its smooth riding behaviour, it should stand out from the agile Kanzo Fast differentiate.
A steeper seat angle shifts the rider's centre of gravity slightly forwards, allowing the Kanzo Adventure to tackle steep ramps. Because the head tube is shorter at the same time, the riding position is relatively stretched - it is even sportier than on the Kanzo Fast race gravel bike. According to Ridley, the installation of a suspension fork should have less of an effect on the riding position due to the shorter head tube.
In keeping with the Adventure model name, Ridley has given the new gravel bike wider tyres. The frame and fork provide space for up to 54-millimetre tyres (29 inch), 44 or 47 millimetre wide tyres from Vittoria are fitted as standard. However, due to the extreme tyre clearance, all models are only with single drive equipped. For a wider range of gears, the Kanzo Adventure can be equipped with Classified hub retrofit.
Its suitability as a bikepacking bike is also demonstrated by the total of twelve mounting points for bags, bottles and the like. Ridley has installed a fully integrated cockpit to prevent shift or brake cables from rubbing against the handlebar bag - although this comes at the expense of ease of maintenance. A nice detail is the so-called "dogbone" spacer on the top tube, which can be used to stow a spare inner tube with a strap, for example. Mudguards can be fitted for riding in bad weather and a hub dynamo with integrated cable routing can be retrofitted for night-time riding.
Overall, Ridley offers Three equipment variants. The Kanzo Adventure is equipped with a mechanical SRAM Rival 1 (1x11, 42/11-42 teeth) for €3,475, while the version with Shimano's mechanical GRX800 (1x11, 42/11-42 teeth) costs around €520 more. The top model is equipped with electronic SRAM Rival XLPR (1x12, 42/10-44 teeth) and costs €4,999. As Weight the Belgians give 9.0 kilogramme for the top model (size M), the unpainted Carbon frame weighs 1,250 grams on the scales.
