The new gravel bike from Open presented for 2020 takes up many features of the mountain bike and is called WI.DE. This stands for "winding detours".
With the latest variation of its successful U.P. model, the Swiss think tank is taking off-road qualities to an unprecedented level for bikes with racing handlebars. While smaller 650B wheels were previously only an option for the U.P., the WI.DE is designed exclusively for this purpose. However, the diameter of the wheels is not smaller because the WI.DE rolls on fabulous 2.4 inch wide lugged tyres. Thanks to the lowered chainstays, the rear triangle remains as short as on a road racing bike. The only compromise forced by this solution: Only single drivetrains fit the WI.DE.
