Acol is a newly founded racing bike brand from Italy that aims to enrich the market. The founder has a great deal of industry expertise and an extremely prominent name. You can even buy a clone of an iconic racing bike from him.

The brand name Acol stands for Alessandro Colnago, a nephew of the most famous racing bike builder of all time, Ernesto Colnago. He worked in his uncle's company for many years and gained experience in the technical and sales fields. Now he is entering the market with his own brand. According to his own statement, Acol wants to offer premium racing bikes in small quantities and also take individual customer wishes into account.

Cooperation with frame manufacturer from Korea

For the models, Acol is cooperating with the Korean carbon specialists from Wiawis. The brand is launching with five models in the new catalogue. The flagship model is the SL, a classic round tube frame with the lowest possible weight as its credo. At least in terms of its external shape, the frame appears to be identical to the Leggerissima from Schmolkewhich recently set new standards in our test with an extremely lightweight design. According to Acol, the frame should weigh 686 grams, but unpainted and without small parts. Four sizes from XS to L are available.

Acol also has an aero racer in its programme, the Divinus comes with a sportier seating position than the SL and is also available in size XL. Depending on the quality, the frame should weigh 885 grams (Divinus XP) or 1035 grams. The bike looks modern, but not very distinctive.

Retro model with rim brakes

The DNA model is a completely different story. The lugged carbon frame has a decidedly classic silhouette and is reminiscent of Colnago's first carbon models. The C40 model, which the DNA is visibly modelled on, won legendary professional victories in the 1990s and achieved worldwide fame; today they are coveted collector's items. The Acol model is only available for rim brakes, the maximum possible tyre width is 25 millimetres. The frame is said to weigh 990 grams.

There is also a gravel bike in the programme, the Tuscia is a sporty off-road racer that aims to bridge the gap between racing and adventure. A maximum of 45 millimetre wide tyres can be fitted and the frame weight is said to be 880 grams.

How do you like this article?

Two track bikes - a classic sprint bike and a pursuit track bike - are likely to be of only marginal interest to potential customers. The gravel bike Tuscia and the aero racer Divinus are the only models for which complete builds are also offered, all others are only listed as frames (sets). Acol has not yet communicated prices for frames or complete bikes.
