Canyon itself describes the new Grizl:ON as one of the most versatile e-bikes Canyon has ever developed.
A lighter drive system makes the bike more agile and a fallen tree lying across the path is not an insurmountable obstacle. The heavier the bike, the harder it is to lift the bike over the tree - or into the cellar. Canyon has equipped the carbon frame of the Grizl:ON with the compact Bosch SX drive. At two kilos, the drive system is significantly lighter than the CX version. The lower overall weight is intended to make handling more agile and thus promote a more active riding style compared to conventional e-bikes. With a maximum torque of 55 Nm, the Bosch SX system supports the rider unobtrusively. For full support, the cadence must be correspondingly high.
The built-in battery has a capacity of 400 Wh. For long tours, an optional range extender can be used to increase the total capacity by 250 Wh. Together with the connectivity module installed in the bike, the Bosch Flow app offers a two-stage alarm and an effective localisation function: for worry-free parking.
Together with Lupine, the Canyon x Lupine SightStays system was developed, which ensures the best possible visibility from every direction with two integrated rear lights at the rear, even when the bike is fully loaded. Should a rear light ever break, it can be replaced in just a few simple steps, according to the press release. Spare parts are available at canyon.com.
Of course, the rear light alone is not enough. The switchable Lupine Nano SL headlight with dipped beam function is mounted on the gravel-specific handlebars. The housing has been specially adapted to fit the cable outlet on the frame. This gives the cockpit a clean look.
Both the rear light and the headlight are powered by the e-bike battery. If the question now arises as to what happens when the battery is empty, the answer is given here. When the battery is empty, it has reserves for two hours of light operation.
Three out of four models are equipped with the S14 VCLS 2.0 seatpost. The lightweight leaf spring concept offers sufficient suspension travel with +2 to -10 mm offset to effectively absorb minor bumps and vibrations. The trail version of the Grizl:ON provides even more fun and control on technical terrain thanks to the wireless RockShox Reverb AXS XPLR dropper post with 75 mm adjustment range.
The E-gravel bike is steered with the gravel handlebar HB0064 with 16° flare, which is attached to the bike with the 60 mm short ST0037 stem. Together with the flat steering angle of 69.5°, the Terrain should be easy to steer through a variety of terrain. The seat angle of 74° speaks for good climbing behaviour and a slightly more relaxed riding position than the Grizl without electric drive.
Back to the stem, which can be Optional bike computer mount attach. Via SP Connect a smartphone can also be attached there. This is practical because the display is further forwards in the field of vision than, for example, when mounted above the top tube or on the stem.
As already mentioned above, the range can be increased with the PowerMore 250 Range Extender expand. The frame bag Load Fidlock Quickloader offers storage space for snacks, tools or additional clothing. It is mounted using a Fidlock magnet system - gone are the days of time-consuming assembly with tools or straps.
The Grizl:ON CF Daily comes with the mudguard set including luggage rack system as standard. This is optionally available for the other three models and is suitable for tyre widths up to 45 millimetres. The front mudguard was specially developed for the RockShox Rudy suspension fork. At the rear, there is a luggage carrier system on the mudguard that can carry up to 15 kilos of load via the Ortlieb QL3.1 system. Speaking of Ortlieb: Canyon and Ortlieb have joined forces and developed a special edition of the Gravel Pack, which is available exclusively at canyon.com. This provides 14.5 litres of storage space per side.
There are four different models of the Canyon Grizl:ON, so there is a suitable bike for everyone. All Grizl:ON CF models are equipped with:
The Grizl:ON CF is available in five frame sizes from XS to XL for riders between 166 cm and 194 cm tall. The permissible total weight is 130 kilos.
