The Carver brand increasingly wants to break away from the discounter image that Carver undisputedly had as the own brand of the retail giant Fahrrad XXL. The German manufacturer, based in Frankfurt am Main, now sells its bikes directly, with the new Carver Gravel now coming pre-assembled in five variants to its new owners. In terms of prices, however, the brand continues to focus on the lower segment: at €1,700, the top model, the Carver Gravel 230, is around €500 higher than the more affordable model, the Carver Gravel 210.
The maximum configuration level of the Carver gravel bike offers a Shimano GRX 12-speed drivetrain. In addition, there are 40 mm wide Continental Terra Trail tyres, which are brought to a standstill by the hydraulic BR-RX820 (with 160 mm brake discs). Visually chic: The new Carver gravel bikes have fully integrated cable routing so that no cables are visible. The other two models, the Gravel Sport 210 and 220, differ only slightly from the 230 in terms of their equipment, for example in the groupset, brakes or tyres
What's new? Carver has redeveloped the aluminium frame and fork for the second gravel bike generation. Carver claims to have saved weight by using butted tubes in the frame construction and an optimised full carbon fork. Tyres with a width of up to 45 mm can now be fitted for more universal use. Additional mounting points for bikepacking accessories on the fork complete the range.
The Carver gravel bikes for universal use in urban areas go by the name of Gravel Street. The Street Series is fully equipped in accordance with the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO) in order to perform in various areas of use. This includes mudguards and lighting, which is powered by the hub dynamo and ensures safety even in the dark.
The integrated luggage rack is designed to enable a low centre of gravity for the luggage and thus ensure neutral riding characteristics. The frame and fork offer more mounting points and additional transport options. The Street Series includes the Gravel 210 Street model with 20 gears and the Gravel 220 Street model with 22 gears.
