The Weißer Stein is just outside Heidelberg and racing cyclists from Mannheim and Speyer also like to include the climb in their training laps. Triathletes know the Weißer Stein from competitions: the course of the Triatlon Römerman leads over the climb. Since last year, the Weißer Stein has been offering the feeling of a climb in the French Alps: kilometre stones have been placed at the side of the road, just like those on Mont Ventoux or other legendary passes. The Milestone project was realised on a voluntary basis by the local cycling group Good Vibes Rides (GVR). The idea was born after a bikepacking tour in the French Alps. And this year there will be a new event: on 20 June 2026, the organisers will be hosting an Everesting on the Weißer Stein for the first time. The climb is challenging with an average gradient of 7.5 per cent and 375 metres in altitude. After the start in Dossenheim, it gets off to a crisp start and there are even double-digit gradients over the following kilometres. There is relief for the muscles on the last kilometre, which flattens out considerably. A popular inn and the broadcasting tower, visible from afar, await at the top. In sporting terms, this climb is the most attractive - but there are other climbs that offer more scenic attractions, such as the south-east ascent from Ziegelhausen. The QOM was won by Aoife Quigly, while Stefan Kirchmair took the KOM in the men's category.
Note: The Hohe Acht at the Nürburgring was not included as the climb is not accessible all year round
