The borders were tight - the desire to cycle, especially in the mountains, was great. So the idea was born to cycle a circular route to the highest road crossings and the highest points in the German Alps and low mountain ranges and connect them on the shortest routes. The start and finish were to be in Munich. As the borders to Austria and the Czech Republic were open again shortly before the start of the journey, we cut short some of the stages through other countries. The route is only suitable for cycling in its entirety to a limited extent - it is long, difficult and takes almost two weeks. You can complete parts of the route if you want to return to the starting point via stage towns with good train connections or start the tour from there. The options are: Munich, Salzburg (as an alternative end point of stage 1), Erfurt (alternative end of stage 8), Frankfurt am Main (stage 9) or Karlsruhe (start in the northern Black Forest, on stage 10).
