The Spreewald is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Brandenburg and is located in the south-east of the federal state. The historic cultural landscape lies along the River Spree and its countless tributaries, which in some places - with a little imagination - turn it into a Venice in the forest. Our tours take you beyond the Spreewald itself to various parts of Lower Lusatia, which borders Poland to the east and Saxony's Upper Lusatia to the south. The largest city in the region is Cottbus with just under 100,000 inhabitants. It is well connected with its railway station and proximity to the A15 motorway. Popular tourist destinations in the region are Lübbenau, Burg and Peitz.
You won't find any climbs in the extensive lowlands of the Spreewald and Lower Lusatia. But there are other beautiful things: waters of every width and length, forests, floodplains, dykes, heathland, fields and an excellent network of cycle paths, with which the region aims to become the "Münsterland of the East". Most of the roads have little traffic, so cyclists have the time and leisure to enjoy the landscape. Most of the paths and roads are in good condition, although some require a little more concentration. A few sections, especially in the Spreewald near Lübbenau, are not asphalted but are also easy to ride on a road bike - wider tyres increase comfort there. On some sections, cyclists will hardly find any refreshment stops or petrol stations - so in summer, fill up your water bottles wherever possible!
