It is impossible to do justice to the Madone 7.9 in a pure laboratory test. It is the only one of the test bikes that is also proven to be aerodynamically good (aero test in TOUR 2/2013).

Trek is the first manufacturer to harmonise aerodynamics and extreme lightweight construction. The frame also damps well and disproves the prejudice that aero frames are usually hard vertically. This puts the good but not outstanding rating for the frameset in a different light. The sporty riding position leaves no doubt that you are sitting on a competition bike. If the position is too stretched out for you, Trek offers the H2 version with a longer head tube. The bike steers agilely and sits securely on the road; it is not outstandingly stiff, but it is safe for normal-weight riders. Many sizes and customised details such as direct mount brakes are further arguments in its favour.

CONCLUSION Avant-garde in form, revolutionary thanks to the combination of extremely lightweight construction and good aerodynamics. Made in the USA
