Sven Krautscheid Project 2013
Sven Krautscheid Project 2013 is perfectly crafted, customised and technically sound. Not too expensive considering the effort involved.

Behind the 2013 project is not the well-known Bochum frame builder Günter Krautscheid, but his son Sven, who works independently of his father and specialises in custom-made products. He soldered the frame using the socketless fillet-brazed process, in which solder is built up around the tube connections and modelled to create seamless-looking transitions. The cool technical look creates a chrome plating that would mercilessly expose any processing errors if they existed. But Krautscheid doesn't pull any punches, the workmanship is perfect as if from a single mould. To emphasise the modern appearance, Campa's electronic Athena EPS groupset was used in the build, rounded off by Bora high-profile wheels, which, like the handlebars, stem and seatpost, have been stripped of all lettering. Such attention to detail has its price, but Krautscheid can also do it cheaper. With normal paintwork, mechanical Athena and Zonda wheels, a similar bike would be available from him for just under €3,000. Despite the slim tubes, the slightly sloped frame is sufficiently stable for normal-weight riders.
