German Radler 0.0 is the result of a collaboration between the German Cycling Federation and Domäne Ostsee, a group of companies that manages several brands in northern Germany. Its portfolio includes, amongst others, the Schloss Rattey winery, Inselmühle Usedom, Küstenkeks, Manufaktur Mönchhagen and the Brohmer Landbräu brewery. The latter is responsible for and produces the “Brohmer Landbräu German Radler 0.0”.
The drink combines non-alcoholic lager with lemon, is craft-brewed in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and, according to the manufacturer, contains organic ingredients. With 0.0 per cent alcohol, it is a low-calorie, isotonic thirst-quencher, not just for cyclists.
German cyclists for German Cycling
“Up until now, German Radler has mainly been an idea,” explains Bernd Dankowski, President of German Cycling. “Now we have the first bottle right here in front of us – and it’s turning into something very real. We particularly like the simple concept behind it: anyone who buys German Radler is also supporting German cycling. Ten cents per bottle may sound like a small amount at first. But if you buy lots of bottles, it can make a real difference,” says the association’s president.
At launch, the product will initially be sold via german-radler.de. In the future, sales are planned in shops and at cycling community events. At launch, a single 0.5-litre bottle will cost €2.39, a six-pack €14.16 and a crate of 20 bottles €47.20, plus a deposit in each case.
The partnership with German Cycling also includes three regular cycle tours in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which can be accessed via the German Cycling Tours app and the recreational sports calendar. In addition, German Cycling has certified the Kurhaus Bad Doberan and the Hotel & Weingut Schloss Rattey as cycle-friendly partner hotels.
