Taste test: Squeezy Energy Gel "Beer"
After long tours in the summer heat, a cool, freshly tapped beer is one of the best rewards you can treat yourself to. Can the beer gel from Squeezy fulfil this promise?

The biggest problem with the Squeezy gel with the new "beer" flavour: after two hours in the jersey pocket, the gel in the 33 gram sachet is anything but cool. The first sip from the pouch initially evokes memories of warm, stale beer, before a lingering, light malt flavour characterises the taste and makes for a conciliatory palate. However, the only disappointment is actually the exaggerated expectation of the beer gel - apart from that, it tastes slightly tart and spicy and should appeal to many cyclists as a new alternative to the sweet monotony. As is usual with Squeezy, the ingredients are tailored to intensive exertion. Each 33 gram portion contains 85 kilocalories in the form of 21 grams of carbohydrates (including 3.1 grams of sugar). A small pint costs 1.20 euros, the box of twelve sachets 11.90 euros.
