Multipower: Multicarbo Liquid Gel
What Multipower promises for its Multicarbo Liquid Gel product sounds good: lots of quick energy, already prepared in liquid form, for your jersey pocket.

The mixture of glucose and fructose in the flavour cola, supplemented with natural caffeine from guarana extract, provides a quick supply of energy shortly before and during a competition. The advantage: a 55-millilitre sachet contains a whopping 23.5 grams of carbohydrates, 9.6 grams of which are sugar - which provides power rather than instant happiness. The packs are easy to tear open, even at full speed, and the energy rushes straight into the bloodstream. The disadvantage: the sachets are relatively large, so the jersey pocket is fuller than with concentrated gels for the same amount of energy. And you still need a few extra sips from the water bottle. Holding the gel sachet open in your hand without the sticky contents running over your hands is - according to the practical test - almost impossible. According to the manufacturer, the gel is suitable for vegetarians and vegans - however, the information on the packaging that the gel may contain traces of milk and egg is confusing.

Price per 55-millilitre sachet: 1.59 euros.
