Tried and tested: IXSO malt-based fruit drinkPhoto: Hersteller
The purity law, which otherwise only applies to beer, is now also being implemented by an Austrian drinks manufacturer for its fruit juice drink IXSO.

IXSO is produced in an organic brewery, with barley malt as the basis. However, the main flavouring is not hops, but apple, white grape and lemon juice. The result is a slightly sparkling, fruity drink. All ingredients bear the Austria Organic Guarantee seal; there are no artificial additives such as refined sugar, flavourings, preservatives or vitamin supplements. Only plant-based caffeine is included; a caffeine-free variant is available as "IXSO Kids". On the bike, the can can be transported in a jersey or in a narrow bottle cage. However, there is still the problem of disposing of it in an ecologically correct way while on the move.

Most of the testers liked the flavour, which is reminiscent of sweet Belgian beer. With 120 kilocalories per 250 millilitre can, the organic drink quickly replenishes empty energy stores, while the barley malt provides minerals for carbohydrate metabolism. IXSO is currently available to order in Germany and in catering outlets and pharmacies in Austria.
