Vegan road cyclist Michael Seipelt wants to cross the USA in 31 days. Along the way, he will provide himself with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and vegan raw food sandwiches. Dried organic figs, bars and Lifebars serve as a source of energy in between. The 27-year-old started in San Francisco a good three weeks ago. The 6,000 kilometre route through the land of opportunity is to end in New York. There was never any question of stopping, as the return flight tickets for him and his team have already been booked.
The special thing about the tour: the Magdeburger not only does without meat, fish, milk... but also on technical bells and whistles. No carbon frames - Seipelt pedals stylishly on his golden 80s racer, in a neon-coloured jersey from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Statue of Liberty.
He is accompanied by a Berlin camera team. The journey will culminate in a documentary film about Seipelt's mission to America.
Michael Seipelt proves that top-class sport and raw food are not mutually exclusive. If you would like to follow the journey of the vegan raw food athlete, you can visit his Facebook page to view the video diary.
