This in-game series for women begins on International Women's Day, 8 March, and is designed to give the women's community on Zwift the opportunity to unite with others from the Zwift community. There will be weekly in-game events, workouts and podcasts.
Zwift wants to celebrate the progress made in terms of equal rights for women in sport, but also draw attention to the fact that a lot still needs to be done in this area. Zwift's running and cycling series specifically for women is designed to encourage women to network and inspire each other. In addition, pioneers who have driven the development of women's cycling will be honoured.
"Women's History Month on Zwift is a great opportunity for women to come together and celebrate the community on Zwift," says Kate Veronneau, Director of Content and Women's Strategy. "We've already achieved so much for equality in sport and 2022 will be a fantastic year for women in sport and cycling with the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift as a highlight. This should encourage us to pause for a moment and honour the pioneers and trailblazers who were active before us and pushed the boundaries for women's sport."
Zwift not only offers events on the virtual training platform. The company also supports the Women's Sports Foundation. This encourages girls and women to realise their potential - both in sport and in other areas of life.
A second organisation that Zwift works with is The Cycle Effect. The Cycle Effect helps young women to build a better future and a stronger community through mountain biking.
Zwift does not only want to support women externally. To promote equal rights within the company itself, Zwift has set up an Employee Resource Group, the Zwift Women's ERGwhich is committed to empowering and supporting women and their allies.
