With the Zwift Games, the e-cycling platform Zwift is unveiling plans for potentially the biggest esports competition in cycling to date. And the best thing is: participation in the races is open to everyone. Zwift expects record numbers.

Zwift was the platform on which the first UCI Esports World Championships were held. And the second. And the third. In its fourth year, MyWhoosh is the organiser of the Indoor World Championships.

In 2024, the Zwift Games will be held for the first time and are set to set new standards in esports. The Zwift Games are set to become the biggest cycling event in history and give cyclists the opportunity to compete virtually with thousands of other Zwifters.

These are the three medal disciplines of the Zwift Games

1st The Sprint Championship

This was modelled on Zwift Battle Royale, which Zwift developed for the UCI Cycling Esports World Championships 2023 has brought to life. The format included a total of three races, which were held one after the other. Two races, after which you were either one lap ahead or eliminated, and one race in which one rider was eliminated each lap until there were only three left. The world championship title was decided between these three.

According to the press release, the best elements of Battle Royale have been adopted for the Zwift Games. It is intended to be a real challenge that will appeal to sprinters in particular - Sprint Championships. As with the 2023 Indoor World Championships, several events will be run in succession on a variety of tracks. Psst, some of the tracks will also be new to the virtual training world.

2. the Epic Championship

This race is for all those who like to spend longer in the virtual world of Zwift. The race is at least 60 kilometres long. It combines the recently released Costal Causeway from Watopia with a new route. At the same time as the race, there will also be a community event in which everyone can take part without qualifying. This is set to be perhaps the biggest cycling event in the world. It's best to mark it in your diary and take part.

3rd The Hill Climb Championship

It was introduced in 2018 and since then, more than 600,000 Zwifters have travelled the 21 serpentines and climbed to the summit. We are, of course, talking about the Alp de Zwift. The Hill Climb Championship takes you from the foot to the summit. Will there be new records for KOM and QOM - King of the Mountain and Queen of the Mountain? We are curious.

This championship also offers a community challenge that includes the Alpe du Zwift and other Zwift climbs with different levels of difficulty. It is not yet known exactly what this will look like.

More information on the Zwift Games including exact dates, formats, information, global coverage and prize money distribution will be available in December.
