Zwift has released ‘The Wild Isles’ for its virtual training world, Watopia. The three new islands are situated between the Mayan Jungle and Jarvis Island and offer around 17 kilometres of flat terrain. The design is inspired by the west coast of California and Catalina Island, featuring sea views and wildlife such as bison, whales and herons.

Courses and Routes on Zwift

The expansion introduces nine cycling routes: Caldera Coaster, The Watopia 150, Seafoam Circuit, Laps Cam Traction, Watt Goes Up Must Come Down, Four Foalsmen, California Dreamin’, California Roll and Pacific Pursuit. There are three routes available for runners: Seafoam Scamper, Lightning Lap Run and Lava Legs. The new roads provide a bypass around the jungle and connect different areas of the map.

Use and availability of Zwift

Two archipelagos have been designed for Criterium races. The Wild Isles are now available, including in Stage 4 of the Tour of Watopia. Users can use the routes for races, longer rides or group rides.

Hardware & Software Innovations 2026

Zwift has already introduced technical changes over the past few months:

  • Zwift Ride V2: Redesigned indoor bike with adjustable cranks (5 lengths), a wider saddle adjustment range and new handlebars (suitable for riders between approx. 146 and 198 cm in height).
  • Watt Lock (ERG mode in Freeride): A new ERG mode toggle on the Zwift Action Bar allows you to set a target wattage during Freerides and adjust it using Zwift controllers (Zwift Ride, Zwift Click, Zwift Play).
  • WHOOP integration: Direct, real-time connection to sleep and recovery data (WHOOP Recovery Score) for the automatic adjustment of training recommendations.
  • Zwift Companion App: A revamped home screen layout places greater emphasis on training progress and achievements.
