The versatile adjustability of the frame is impressive; frame height and length, seat and handlebar height, even different crank lengths - the frame can be quickly and precisely adjusted to the individual riding position using lever locks. If you have measured values from a bike fitting, you can enter them into the corresponding app and receive precise specifications for the adjustment. This means that several cyclists can also use the stationary bike very well. Another attractive feature is the ability to easily experiment with the riding position and transfer the findings to the road bike.
Functions and riding experience of the Wahoo Kickr bike
First and foremost, this is Kickr Bike but of course a training and racing device for the virtual worlds of Zwift and Co. The riding experience is also very realistic thanks to the almost six-kilogram flywheel mass. The electromagnetic drive brakes noticeably hard - with software such as RGT, which calculates braking and acceleration in bends, a further gain in realism, but without any usable effect on Zwift and Bkool. The gear levers can be used to set whether you want to change gears in Shimano, SRAM or Campagnolo style, and the gear ratio on the bike can also be customised via the app. A hydraulic system tilts the bike depending on the virtual gradient (up to 20 per cent) or slope (up to 15 per cent), which feels surprisingly realistic; "downhill" you really have to lean on the handlebars and hold on tight. We found the running noise to be comparatively loud at low speeds, but it doesn't get much louder even during more intensive training. If a fan and an integrated tablet holder on the cockpit were included in the scope of delivery for the impressive price of € 3,500, we wouldn't complain.
Who is the Wahoo Kickr Bike suitable for?
For indoor-crazy racing cyclists, the Kickr Bike is a professional device; if you are a cyclist who only rides regularly on the roller in winter, you can enter Wahoo's world of smart trainers with the Snap for 400 euros.
Muc-Off offers a rainproof pouch to keep important items such as your smartphone, credit card or multitool dry and protected on your bike during the wet and cold season. The all-round zip is protected against water ingress with rubber lips, while lined compartments on the inside help to keep things tidy. Smartphones with a screen size of up to 6.5 inches fit inside. The pouch protects against splashing water or a downpour, but it is not completely waterproof.
