Zwift has announced what’s new over the coming weeks and months. Some features are already live, whilst many others will launch in October. Here are all twelve new features.
The updates show where Zwift is heading: easier for beginners, better for anyone doing targeted training, and more appealing for racing. With the Whoop integration, Zwift seems to be moving further towards becoming a comprehensive training platform. It has been possible to synchronise recorded outdoor rides with Zwift since last year. The announced features are being rolled out bit by bit, starting today and continuing into the indoor season.
The Zwift Smart Bike is getting an update: a wider adjustment range, five crank lengths as standard, a new seatpost – all at the same price. Full details in the separate article on the Zwift Ride V2.
Whoop is a fitness tracker that, amongst other things, measures how well you’ve recovered. From now on, Zwift can access this data and suggest a less intense workout on days when you’re not feeling your best. Later this autumn, Zwift sessions are also set to appear directly in the Whoop app.
The home screen in the Zwift app is being revamped. Scheduled training sessions will be immediately visible in future, and a new widget will show how close you are to your weekly target. Career statistics are also on the way – something many users have been asking for.
From September, there will be a regular racing programme under the name ‘Zwift Racing’, featuring three formats: time trial, criterium and Epic. The first series will be run in partnership with Shimano Dura-Ace.
The “Zwift Racing League” team racing series is back. New: Introductory rides are designed to make it easier to get started, show newcomers the race formats and explain how to find a team. There’s also a new format called the “Race of Truth” – a mass-start race with no drafting, where points decide the outcome. Tactics are key here.
The Companion app – Zwift’s smartphone companion – is also getting a new look. The weekly review will be split across two screens, making goals and progress easier to see.
Watt Lock is a new feature for anyone cycling without a selected training session: with a single click, you can set a target power output, which the smart trainer will then maintain at a constant level. If you’re using Zwift Ride, Zwift Click or Zwift Play, you can adjust the value directly via the controller.
Watopia – Zwift’s own fantasy island world – is expanding by around 18 new kilometres, inspired by the west coast of California and Catalina Island. The new route connects Jarvis with the jungle area of the map, offers a flatter alternative that bypasses the big climb (Epic KOM) and provides two new circuit routes for racing.
The new route will be unveiled on 26 October with the fourth stage of the Tour of Watopia. The entire tour runs from early October to late November – with double experience points and a new challenge to boot, about which no further details have yet been revealed.
Power Play kicks off at the end of November – a new Zwift campaign centred around so-called Power Segments: short, defined sections on specific routes where you really put your foot down. The routes include New York, Montmartre and The Grade climb, as well as the new Watopia routes. Those who take part can earn kits and Drops – Zwift’s in-game currency.
The Drop Shop, Zwift’s virtual gear shop, is getting several new drops this season. Drops – I call them ‘sweat drops’ – are the in-game currency you earn by riding. In October, there’ll be a Kona drop featuring triathlon bikes and road bikes, followed by Factor Bikes with Black Inc Wheels – a long-awaited feature – as well as a Zwift x Pinarello livery.
Halo Bikes are the most exclusive bikes in Zwift: to buy one, you first have to fully upgrade all the bikes from a particular brand – which takes time. So far, Halo Bikes are available from Specialized, Cannondale and Pinarello. Cervélo and Canyon will be added at the end of 2026. Zwift isn’t revealing exactly which models will be available just yet – and is inviting users to speculate. Which bike would you like? Leave a comment below the article.
