Kettler Racer S exercise bike
Under the name Racer S, the German manufacturer Kettler is launching an indoor trainer on the market that can be used for very versatile training.

The device is very solidly constructed, the 18-kilogram flywheel with eddy current brake conveys a realistic pedalling sensation up to a power output of 1,000 watts. The saddle and handlebars offer a large adjustment range, but only in 2.5-centimetre increments as standard, which makes fine adjustment somewhat more difficult; the handlebar clamp with a diameter of 31.8 millimetres is practical and can also be used to mount your own handlebars. The basic control of watt and heart rate values (a Polar chest strap is included as standard) is carried out via a spacious cockpit with touchscreen.

The highlight of the Racer S is that it can be connected to mobile devices such as smartphones via Bluetooth in order to complete various training programmes using the "Kettler S-Fit" app. In the fun programme, for example, you can work off the calorie value of a burger or a portion of French fries. With the two professional programmes, you can either run virtual routes on your own or compete with other users if you have previously registered on the internet portal www.kettfit.com has registered.

The combination of a solid stationary bike and constantly expandable training software is convincing. Of course, you need to have enough space at home for the rather large device, which weighs a total of 60 kilograms. And a smartphone.
