Individual test: E-Motion training roller from Insideride
No other roller trainer currently offers a more realistic riding experience.

No other roller trainer currently offers a more realistic riding experience: the highlight of this version of the free roller is the inner gold-coloured frame, which is mounted in a floating position in the outer frame and follows the forward movements of the rider and bike to a certain extent. The effect is amazing: once you have gained confidence in the technology, you can ride it almost as dynamically as on the road. Even sprints with high power are possible. To ensure that athletes and equipment are not damaged during such exercises, the manufacturer Insideride has mounted an additional roller in front of the rear wheel. Together with two plastic wheels attached to the side of the front wheel, it makes it almost impossible to accidentally leave the wheel.

Another strength of the device is the magnetic brake, which can be set to three levels. In level one, we measured a braking power of 500 watts with a gear ratio of 52/12 and 100 crank revolutions, in level three we measured more than 700 watts. This makes the roller suitable for training intervals in the development area as well as for endurance training. Strength training is also possible: In level three, we achieved a braking power of 275 watts at 50 crank rotations and a gear ratio of 52/12; with a higher gear ratio, more than 300 watts would be possible.

Together with a performance measurement system, "e-Motion" is a highly recommended training device. A folding function would be desirable so that the 14-kilo roller could also be used on the move. Another conceivable improvement would be a remote control for the brake.

PLUS: Very realistic driving impression; very variable braking resistance; high-quality workmanship; very quiet

MINUS: No folding option; expensive
