Pain-free in the saddle thanks to the right preventive measures
The buttocks and perineal area are among the most stressed regions when cycling. But with our tips, you can easily prevent and eliminate seat problems - and then use all your strength to take care of the pressure on the pedals.

Road cyclists are crazy: as "Homo erectus" with a body that, in evolutionary terms, is not even optimally designed for walking on two legs, they squeeze almost their entire body weight onto an area of a few square centimetres at the rear. And all of this with virtually no suspension and more or less spartan padding.

But when the seat no longer plays along, many cyclists take a seat in the waiting room instead of on narrow saddles - for example that of Munich urologist Dr Stefan Staudte. He has been dealing with cyclists' seat problems for many years and, as a triathlete and active mountain biker, can also contribute his own experience.
can also contribute his own experience. Staudte has a clear opinion on the subject: "It would be nice if racing cyclists would finally realise that there is no point in subordinating the needs and conditions of the body to the appearance of their racing bike". So he always tries to explain to his patients that they can perform better if they sit ergonomically and in a way that suits their body. And that they will consequently have fewer sitting problems.

In the case of cyclists, ergonomic means distributing the forces and pressures acting at the three contact points between the rider and the bike as evenly as possible so that the greatest possible propulsion is achieved - and as little pain as possible is caused. The three contact points are the handlebars, pedals and the saddle. If, for example, the riding position does not match the rider's ability, physique and, for example, the route, this can have unpleasant consequences. According to Staudte, "everyone can react very differently - seating problems are always individual."

You can find all the information about prevention using seat cream and pads, hygiene, depilation and the correct saddle width in the PDF download.
