Also taking part in the TOUR Transalp 2024 was our Diasporal Alpenchallenge team, Nina Helbig and Oliver Lüs from Halle an der Saale. Together with Magnesium Diasporal, we have been looking for a team to take on the Diasporal Alpen Challenge. This challenge is aimed at teams that have never taken part in the TOUR Transalp before but are keen to take on this challenge.
We were overwhelmed by the many applications and had the difficult task of choosing. We would have loved to give every single team this unique opportunity. After careful consideration, we finally selected a handful of promising applications. The two lucky winners were then chosen by lot and were able to look forward to a team starting place at the TOUR Transalp. By the way: We have found 5 conclusive answers to the question of why you should take part in a crossing of the Alps.
We accompanied Nina and Oliver on their preparation journey:
The TOUR Transalp 2024 offered so much variety in seven days that it's hard to forget all the impressions as quickly as they whizz by. The change of landscapes - extravagant peaks scratching against the clouds, lush green alpine meadows lolling in the sun, deep gorges, wide plains, forests, fields, alpine meadows, vineyards - this change was as wild and unpredictable as it can only be on a Transalp. The Dolomites formed the centrepiece. Listing the passes makes the hearts of racing cyclists beat faster: Passo Falzarego, Passo Pordoi, Passo Fedaia, Passo Valles and Passo Rolle - there is no better way to experience these mountains on the road.
But to measure the 2024 edition against the Dolomites alone would be too short-sighted. The Pustertaler Höhenstraße on the first day was already an exquisite piece of panoramic riding and the Monte Grappa, now a Transalp classic, crowns the panoramic factor with a clear view as far as the sea. Boredom takes place elsewhere. Exciting!
