Ambitious folding bike athletes will be battling for the "world hour record" on the track on 4 May 2013. Prerequisite for participation in the race: a moustache and a folding bike without gears.

Last year saw the premiere of the creative World-Klapp event. This year, 111 cyclists can compete for victory on the Klappodrom in Ludwigshafen-Friesenheim. However, participation should not be taken completely seriously - fun is definitely in the foreground.

The folding bike, a symbol of the 70s, is intended to encourage both starters and spectators to dress up in 70s outfits. In the show programme, the Ludwigshafen master car mechanic King Céphas Bansah will swear in the riders. Afterwards, the well-known pop singer Hans Freistadt will perform the Word-Klapp anthem "Kennst du Ludwigshafen?" together with the athletes and spectators. With their song "Das Leben ist hart ohne Oberlippenbart", the band "elfmorgen" will create a great atmosphere on the racecourse.

111 drivers qualify for the final in four heats. The driver who has covered the furthest distance after 60 minutes becomes the new world hour record holder.

The event starts at 6 pm, admission is from 4 pm. The starting place costs 15 euros.
