The seventh edition of the Eroica Dolomiti took place in San Candido on 9 September 2024. The cycling event for vintage bike enthusiasts is known for its challenging routes in the Dolomites. 350 participants from 22 countries pedalled in ideal weather conditions and explored the 3 Zinnen Dolomites region. The cyclists, who competed on pre-1987 bikes, were able to choose between three different routes that led over the Dolomite passes and picturesque landscapes.
The event began on Friday with an aperitivo in San Candido, where the participants presented their historic bikes and clothing. On Saturday, the main part of the event started with routes through Cortina, the Passo Tre Croci and Lake Misurina. There were several refreshment stops along the routes, including a lunch at Lake Misurina and a stop at the Hotel Adler, which was considered particularly impressive. There were three different routes to choose from, covering 110, 91 and 73 kilometres through the Dolomites. After the start in San Candido, the participants cycled to the first supply point in Cortina, from there on to Passo Tre Croci and then to Lake Misurina. Those who rode directly back to San Candido from here completed the "short" distance of 73 kilometres and 1258 metres in altitude. On the other hand, those who took in the Prato Piazza meadows and pedalled back to San Candido via Villabassa had 91 km, 1870 metres of altitude and therefore the medium distance in their legs. The round via Lachwiesen and the Silvestertal valley demanded even more stamina - a total of 118 kilometres and 2740 metres in altitude were the longest route of the vintage ride.
Eroica Dolomiti ended with dinner
The Eroica ended with a convivial dinner, the "Cena Eroica", at the Riese Haunold mountain hut. The next edition of the Eroica Dolomiti is already planned for 6 September 2025.

Eroica background
L'Eroica was born in 1997 in Gaiole in Chianti, a small village in the province of Siena, where founder Giancarlo Brocci rode through Tuscany on historic bikes together with 92 men and women. The founding event L'Eroica has since been joined by 15 offshoots all over the world.
