For example, two three-day stage races are new to the UCI's amateur world championship series: The UCI World Cycling Tour Perth will take place in Perth, Australia, at the end of March, followed by the Cretan Amateur Cycling Tour in Crete around a month later.
Another innovation for the racing series in the coming year is the merging of the two youngest racing classes into a new age group of 19-34-year-olds.
Under the name UCI Amateur Road World Championships, the final of the UCI World Cycling Tour will take place in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana from 28 to 31 August 2014. The road race for younger age groups will cover 157 kilometres, while the older age groups will have to race around 100 kilometres. The time trial competition will cover 19 kilometres on a flat and windy course. As in the previous year, there will also be a relay race for teams.
In the 15 qualifying events, the top 25 per cent of each age group can look forward to admission to the final in Ljubljana.
