Even experienced cyclists sometimes experience pain in the seat area - the skin can become chafed or inflamed. There are seat creams to combat this.

A new lubricant has now been developed by a pharmaceutical manufacturer specialising in ointments against bedsores, among other things, in collaboration with top triathlete Alexander Taubert: The Ilon Protect Ointment is based on Vaseline and olive oil, which are supposed to form a protective film on the skin. Larch turpentine and other essential oils from eucalyptus, rosemary and thyme are said to have an antibacterial and circulation-promoting effect - giving the ointment an intense herbal scent. However, not all of our test subjects tolerated the essential extracts without any problems. The manufacturer also points out in its leaflet that "sensitive or predisposed persons may react sensitively to the ingredients contained". Apart from this, however, the protective film proved to be durable and effective against typical chafing. The ointment is only available in pharmacies.

PLUS Good protective effect
MINUS not everyone can tolerate it without restrictions
