On Sunday, 17 September 2017, it will once again be "steel instead of carbon" at the 3rd Tretro at the Sinsheim Museum. Prominent ex-professionals are expected again this year.

The Tretro offers the opportunity to take a nice ride through the Kraichgau with "legends of cycling" on racing bikes built up to 1985 in contemporary outfits. The ride focuses on the fun of riding old racing bikes and exchanging experiences. Past participants have included Willi Altig, Lucien Aimar, Udo and Hardy Bölts, Klaus Bugdahl, Ute Enzenauer, Miriam Welte, Erik Zabel, Mike Kluge and Stefan Steinweg.

The route is 52 kilometres long with 250 metres of ascent. Alternatively, it is possible to ride a shortened tour of 30 kilometres with 40 metres of elevation gain, which is also easily manageable on road bikes without gears. The tour is well signposted and is accompanied by route guides, motorcyclists, a guide vehicle with loudspeaker announcements, a service car, a classic car escort vehicle and a broom wagon.

A highlight of Tretro 2017 is the Legends Party on the evening before. This is an opportunity to talk shop with the prominent participants and reminisce. A film documenting the tragic sporting career of one of the former GDR's biggest cycling stars will also be shown: Wolfgang Lötzsch, who will also be on site.

For the participants, but also for visitors who just want to get a taste of cycling, there will be a colourful supporting programme on Sunday. At an autograph session with the prominent participants, fans can pick up signatures from the cycling legends. Former Artistic Cycling World Champion Jens Schmitt will be thrilling spectators on the open-air site with great artistic performances and the high-wheel demonstrations by the RV OPEL-Rüsselsheim will also be part of the programme again. At a parts market, exhibitors will be offering complete retro racing bikes and parts that the racing heart desires. In the museum shop, photographers Hennes Roth, Rainer Kraus and Jürgen Burckhardt will be presenting their interesting cycling books and photo collages. Access to the museum's outdoor area, where the supporting programme takes place, is free of charge.

Throughout the day, visitors will have the opportunity to view "Jockel's racing bike collection" as part of a visit to the museum. This collection, which is unique in Germany and was expanded last year to include a special exhibition on Rudi Altig, comprises over 60 racing bikes from all eras as well as jerseys and countless other exhibits that have written cycling history.
