The TV programme "Wetten, dass...?" made Swiss rider Daniel Markwalder famous overnight. He won a 200 metre sprint on a historic Swiss military bike against Jens Voigt and his carbon racing machine. That was ten years ago now, and Markwalder has been organising the Säntis Classic in Weinfelden near Lake Constance for 20 years. Two reasons to celebrate in 2019. Markwalder hopes that Jens Voigt will also come to the anniversary event - he has not yet confirmed his attendance.
The event is characterised by its wide range of events, from the family tour and school races on Saturday to the Radlathlon and the Classic Tour on Sunday. Unusual: in the Radlathon, three guided performance groups set off on the 200-kilometre route in Appenzellerland. On the Classic Tour, you can either ride in a group or alone.
