With 20,000 participants, the Limburgs Mooiste cycle tour set a new record on 5 June. The racing cyclists could choose from laps of between 100 and 250 kilometres. The 3,500 mountain bikers also had three routes to choose from.
The Limburgs Mooiste cycle tour has been running since 1992, travelling through the Dutch province of South Limburg and partly following the route of the Amstel Gold Race. The sporting highlight of the event is the Cauberg in Valkenburg. For the first time, the race started at the Avantis business park near Heerlen.
2011 marks the 20th edition of the Dutch cycling event.
